Tackling Social Services...

Sorry for the big gap between updates. There's such a lot going on!

Morgan at last has his educational statement. That means that he is able to start at a local special school later this month. It's excellent news for everyone really - there are fantastic staff and facilities at the school, and we know he will love it there. Also, it will provide some measure of a break for Sharon from the rigours of caring for Mo. He'll initially be going for two days a week, and we'll see how he gets on.

A spooky "twin" moment

Spooky stuff.

Merry Christmas!

Our Christmas newsletter is available for download here. It's a 727KB download, so it may take a little while to fetch it over dial-up. Sharon worked hard on it though - it'll be well worth the wait!

It's one of those PDF thingummybobs, so you may need a PDF reader, such as Foxit Reader (which is smaller and much faster than Adobe's Reader).

Enjoy, and may God bless you today!

Bye bye gastrostomy!

Here's some news! James' gastrostomy was removed today. He's gone for so long without it, that everyone is happy to remove it. He'll have the two gastrostomy holes until they are surgically closed early next year, but hopefully in the meantime he'll have less irritation in that department, rather than more.

James has a slight squint and now has to wear an eyepatch for an hour a day. Given that he spends much of the day removing his socks and clothes, this could be an interesting experiment!

First steps

Cue fanfare: da dada da da da duurrrrrrrrrrrrr!

James took his first step today! :-) I wasn't there to see it. :-(

No time for more news at the moment - hardly have time to write this. Bear with me!

Busy busy

Sharon is currently recovering from some dental surgery this week - two wisdom teeth removed. We kept it pretty quiet since Sharon is one of those many people not fond of dental work! We thought about it as little as possible in advance... We did however make some plans; so the boys went to Claire House on Sunday, and I took a couple of days off work so that I could look after the patient. She's pretty sore at the moment and lying low, as is her wont, when unwell.

Surgery cancelled

As it happens, James' surgery was cancelled today. When the surgeon saw the proximity of James' old and new sites, he thought it may not actually be possible to close the old site without disturbing the new site. And then James would need yet another gastrostomy inserting. And that would undoubtedly interfere with James' eating, which would be very bad timing!

Grumble grumble.

There's nothing that Morgan likes more in this world than being flung around. Unfortunately he's getting heavier and last night we found my old back injury. Today I am hobbling around like an old man.

I knew there was going to come a time when we wouldn't be able to chuck him around as much, but - so soon?

Anyone want to come and install a mini rollercoaster in our back garden?!

Claire House. And a novel.

The photo for today is a picture of Morgan, flat out in a special chair at Claire House.
